Your Local Left Team In Kennedy

Many Labor members will know me as a committed, energetic and caring member of the Tablelands FNQ Branch and as a proud Union member. I’m also known for being an advocate for our regions to receive our fair share, arguing when it comes to resourcing and progressing policy to address the inequity in service delivery that we experience in rural and remote areas. I’m self-employed with my husband with an OH&S consultancy along with farming cattle & a small tourism business. I’m also a nanna to an adorable 2yr old living near Mackay. This gives me many reasons to travel throughout FNQ and I have had many conversations where I have gauged the discontent of people with politics overall. We have logistic challenges to bring Labor and its policies to people in FNQ. I believe that only the Local Progressive team is committed to taking real action on these key issues. As your State Conference delegate I want to ensure we the strong regional voices to implement policies that best serve our regions.

I have resided in Edmonton to the North of the electorate for 20 years and have recently taken up the position of ETU Organiser for the Far North. I pride myself on working tirelessly to deliver positive outcomes for working class people. I have been an active campaigner over many Labor Party elections and bring the ability to organise, inspire and unite people. I would like to represent the Kennedy electorate as a State Conference Delegate to represent the members throughout the electorate and be their voice on conference floor. My role allows me to travel frequently providing an ideal opportunity for me to meet with branch members across Kennedy and North Queensland. I am a passionate ALP member with solid progressive values and hope that together we can make a difference in shaping the agenda for our great party.

I've been an active member of the awesome Edmonton Branch since 1995 and Secretary/Treasurer for most of those years. Currently, I'm President of Mulgrave SEC and am a keen contributor to local, State and Federal campaigns in our area. I'm a member of Labor Associations - LEAN, Labor 4 Choice and Labor for the Regions and proudly voted at State Conference to have a future Labor Senator permanently based in this part of Queensland. I have a strong affinity with the Australian bush and live on a semi-rural acreage. Having been a proud member of the Musicians Union of Australia (MUA - here to Play!) since 1982, I've performed with my band at Labour Day rallies all over Queensland and played music all over the world, but I'm always very happy to come home to glorious Far North Queensland. I look forward to continuing as a State Conference Delegate promoting and voting on strong progressive Labor policy in the Federal seat of Kennedy.

Right across Kennedy, I have always strived to be the active, engaged and vocal representative our branches need. That being said, Labor membership in Kennedy has grown over the last few years and changes to boundaries have led to the inclusion of a large part of Southern Cairns suburbs. These new members and new areas bring with them a great need to elect solid, innovative and truly representative delegates. I believe I have represented Kennedy fairly and with a passion for progressive policy. It's about standing up for Kennedy and what we believe is vital to help Kennedy grow into the future. Regional Queensland that feels very disengaged and more than ever we need strong regional representation with a progressive approach to reform. I will always work for active, engaged and progressive branches and will fight to give branch members the strongest possible voice.
